Hotel Royal Palace - Messina

Charming retro decor in a well-kept environment.

It's a disaster waiting to happen if you're not careful. The doorknobs are annoyingly close to the door jambs. The lack of breakfast variety left much to be desired, frustrating considering the overall appeal of the hotel.

I took a king room with king size bed and fruits plus spectacular views. The hotel was in a central setting close to port for next day departure...

Their staff were not very friendly.

My king room was a nice size with a functioning ac. Decent and magnificent location close to most attractions, exceeded all expectations.

Conveniently located close to the train and ferry terminals, the hotel offers a spacious connected garage and a wonderful breakfast selection. Although the room was compact, the staff were helpful and attentive, ensuring a pleasant stay. I would consider this hotel again for its excellent service.

Location: favourable and perfect, near an excellent local restaurant. For tea or coffee visit Pasticceria Delia nearby.

The rooms - airy, huge with the Internet, a terrace plus extra large comfortable bed. Breakfast with sweets, sweet ricotta plus homemade yoghurt. Perfect and decent location, short walk from Salina Island, truly enjoyed this place👌

easy walk to beautiful parks and fine landmarks

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel, just a few minutes from the fine Messina Cathedral and the charming Annunziata dei Catalani Church, making my weekend explorations effortless and enjoyable.

Where it excels and where it fails

The staff provided excellent service, going above and beyond for us, and the breakfast spread was amazing with a variety of delicious options.

Noise from adjacent rooms and musty smells in the corridors were distracting .

It is very close to the central station. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, you feel that you are in a luxury hotel. The view is fantastic from the balconz of the hotel.

The hotel staff was really helpful, in every respect.

The location is perfect for exploring the city, with spacious and cozy accommodations that include a brand new bathroom. The staff was friendly, and we appreciated the thoughtful gesture of champagne and fruits on our arrival.

One improvement could be the breakfast options, which could use more variety.

I'm mildly surprised by some of the critical reviews on this site. True, the furnishings may be a little shabby for a 4-star hotel, but the rooms are comfortable, mine had a very nice roof top deck with a view of the city, and the location within a few blocks of the train station and the ferry terminal for the Aeolian Islands was excellent. It was a relatively short walk to the Duomo and other sights. Although admittedly prejudiced by obtaining such a nice hotel at a bargain rate, I was very pleased with the hotel.

It is annoying to have the hotel charge high rates for hourly or daily use of wifi. True, they cater mostly to business travelers, who may not be paying their own expenses, but it was certainly not worthwhile for a casual visitor to pay that much when there are numerous internet points close by.

the breakfast had a huge selection with crisp pastries. the bathroom was a nightmare.
